Elizabeth Gracen, a small-town Arkansas native, made her way to New York City after traveling the world as Miss America 1982. Using her scholarship prize money, she pursued her passion for acting at HB Studios and photography at the New School.
Years later, Gracen relocated to Los Angeles, where she has worked as an actress for over two decades. Her extensive experience in television and film productions has made her a veteran of many projects, with her most notable work being the long-running Highlander (1992) and Highlander: The Raven (1998).
Gracen's first foray into filmmaking was the documentary, The Damn Deal (2014),which tells the story of three young, female impersonators from Arkansas competing in the Miss Gay America Beauty Pageant system. The film received an Award of Merit from the 2014 Accolade Global Film Competition and played on the international film festival circuit.
In 2012, Gracen founded Flapper Films, a company dedicated to producing inspirational content that encourages multi-generational women to live authentic lives. The company's premiere film short, The Perfection of Anna (2012),met with great success on the international film festival circuit and continues to develop projects in collaboration with the Lineage Dance Company, a non-profit organization dedicated to raising funds and awareness for various charities while promoting healing through the arts.
In April 2016, Gracen published her debut young adult fantasy novel, Shalilly, under the banner of Flapper Press, a curated small publishing company and E-commerce site for books, poetry, blogs, art, and unique merchandise.
