Elise Salomon's inaugural feature film production, Paper Heart, boasts an impressive cast including Charlyne Yi, Michael Cera, and Jake M. Johnson. This remarkable debut premiered at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival in the U.S. Dramatic Competition, where it garnered the prestigious Waldo Salt Screenwriting Award. Following its successful premiere, Paper Heart received a theatrical release courtesy of Overture Films in 2009.
Salomon's subsequent feature production, Smashed, boasts an all-star cast featuring Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Aaron Paul, Nick Offerman, Megan Mullally, Octavia Spencer, Kyle Gallner, and Mary Kay Place. This highly acclaimed film premiered at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival in the U.S. Dramatic Competition, where it was awarded the Special Jury Prize for producing. Sony Pictures Classics released Smashed theatrically in 2012.
Salomon's directorial debut, Los Wild Ones, is a captivating documentary that delves into the world of Wild Records, a renowned record label. This impressive documentary premiered in Competition at the SXSW 2013 film festival, where it was met with widespread critical acclaim. Los Wild Ones went on to win numerous awards, including Best Feature Documentary at the 2013 Phoenix Film Festival, Best Feature at the 2013 Reel Indie Film Festival, and an official selection at the 2013 IDFA film festival. The documentary also received the Best Documentary and Audience Award at the 2014 JDIFF film festival.
In 2016, Gravitas Ventures acquired the rights to release Los Wild Ones both domestically and internationally. The documentary is currently available on various platforms, including iTunes, Amazon, Google Play, Walmart, and YouTube.
