Biography

Eliot Feld, a renowned dancer and choreographer, was born in Brooklyn, New York, and embarked on a remarkable journey in the world of dance. He began his training at the School of American Ballet, the New Dance Group, the High School of Performing Arts, and under the guidance of Richard Thomas.

At the tender age of 11, Feld had the privilege of dancing with the New York City Ballet as the "Child Prince" in George Balanchine's original production of The Nutcracker. This experience was followed by collaborations with notable dance companies, including those led by Donald McKayle, Pearl Lang, Sophie Maslow, and Mary Anthony.

Feld's Broadway credits include appearing in the iconic musical West Side Story at the age of 16, where he played the role of Baby John in the movie adaptation. He also danced on Broadway in "I Can Get It for You Wholesale" and "Fiddler on the Roof." His extensive repertoire includes performances with the American Ballet Theatre, the American Ballet Company, and Feld Ballets/NY.

As a choreographer, Feld has created an impressive 145 ballets since 1967. His work has been showcased by numerous prominent dance companies, including the American Ballet Theatre, the American Ballet Company, the Royal Danish Ballet, the Joffrey Ballet, the John Curry Skating Company, The Juilliard School, The National Ballet of Canada, the Royal Swedish Ballet, the Royal Winnipeg Ballet, the London Festival Ballet, the Boston Ballet, the San Francisco Ballet, the Atlanta Ballet, the Richmond Ballet, the New York City Opera, the New York City Ballet, and BalletTech, among others.

Feld's passion for sharing the gift of classical dance training with children of all backgrounds led him to co-found the tuition-free Ballet Tech School with Cora Cahan in 1978. Today, Ballet Tech auditions over 30,000 children in more than 200 elementary public schools throughout New York City, providing intensive dance training and rigorous academic education at its headquarters at 890 Broadway in Manhattan.
