Eliane Gagnon is a renowned trilingual actress, born in Montreal, with roots in both French Canada and Chile. With a strong foundation in film writing, she holds a certificate from the University of Québec in Montréal. Over the past 12 years, she has made a significant impact in the TV and film industry, mostly as a self-taught actor and filmmaker.
In 2014, Eliane applied to the Canadian Film Center Actor's Conservatory, where she was selected among 9 talented actors from across Canada. She received a notable grant from The Brian Linehan Foundation for her 6-month residency in the acting program. This experience has driven her to pursue opportunities in both the Canadian and American markets.
Throughout her acting career, Eliane has predominantly played dramatic roles, but she recently explored her comedic side in Chloé Robichaud's successful web series Feminin/Feminin. She is also notable for her portrayal of Emiliana Cyr in the box office hit Louis Cyr: The strongest man in the world. Currently, she has a recurring role in the 3rd season of the TV show Mémoires Vives, set to air on Radio-Canada in September 2015.
Eliane's passion for writing has been a long-standing desire. She enrolled in the scriptwriting program at Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM) in 2009. In 2013, she wrote and produced a short film, Douce Amère (Bittersweet),which has been showcased at numerous festivals worldwide. The film won the Best International Short Film award at the International Film Festival of Williamsburg in New York City.
Her experience on Bittersweet production emphasized the importance of having full artistic control over her work. With 12 years of acting experience and 6 years of writing under her belt, Eliane is now poised to create her first short film, LOST ONES, from start to finish. This project has given her the opportunity to establish her own production company, Galop Films, in collaboration with her artistic partner, actress-writer Valérie Gervais Lillo.
As a writer, Eliane is currently developing two bilingual feature films: How Could I be loved (English/French) and La Gloria (French/Spanish),co-written with her production partner.
