Elena Fokina, a renowned dancer, actress, choreographer, and teacher of contemporary dance, was born on May 3rd, 1977, in the Moscow region of Russia. She pursued her dance training at the University for Culture and the Russian Academy for Theatrical Arts in Moscow, graduating with a degree in choreography and teaching in 1998.
Fokina's professional career as a dancer and actress began in 1997, when she started working with the Russian Chamber Ballet Moscow. In 2001, she joined the prestigious Ultima Vez dance company, directed by Wim Vandekeybus, a renowned Belgian choreographer. During her long collaboration with Ultima Vez, Fokina participated in various productions and dance films directed by Vandekeybus, including "Blush" (2004) and "Here After" (2005).
Between 2009 and 2013, Fokina collaborated with director German Jauregui, and from 2015 to 2018, she worked as a dancer and teacher for the Royal Swedish Ballet in Stockholm, Sweden. During her time with the Royal Swedish Ballet, Fokina had the opportunity to work with prominent choreographers such as Mats Ek, Sasha Waltz, Olivier Dubois, and Sharon Eyal.
In addition to her work with various dance companies, Fokina has also directed her own works and has given workshops and contemporary dance training worldwide. In 2016, she collaborated with choreographer Damien Jalet on the film production "Suspiria," directed by Luca Guadagnino, in which she played the role of Olga.
Currently, Fokina resides in Stockholm, Sweden, where she continues to pursue her passion for dance and choreography.
