Edward Lee Jones, a renowned athlete, was born on February 23, 1951, in the vibrant city of Jackson, Tennessee. His educational journey began at Merry High School in Jackson, where he laid the foundation for his future success. Later, he attended Tennessee State University, further honing his skills and preparing himself for the challenges that lay ahead.

In 1974, Jones's exceptional talent and dedication earned him the top spot in the NFL draft, marking the beginning of an illustrious professional career. He went on to play as a defensive end for the Dallas Cowboys from 1974 to 1978, showcasing his impressive skills and dominating the field.

In 1979, Jones decided to pursue a new passion – professional boxing. He won every bout, demonstrating his adaptability and versatility as an athlete. However, his love for football ultimately brought him back to the Dallas Cowboys, where he played from 1980 to 1989.
