David's fascination with film began at the tender age of five, after witnessing the iconic thriller Jaws (1975) at a drive-in theater. This experience had a profound impact on him, and he soon found himself drawn to the world of cinema. Growing up on Martha's Vineyard, he never developed a fear of water, and his love for film only continued to grow.
As a local high school student, David made his on-screen debut as a band member in Jaws: The Revenge (1987). Following his high school years, he relocated to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, enrolling in the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. Under the guidance of industry legend Tom Savini, David honed his skills in trade show designs, prop/model building, and special make-up effects.
David's early career in the film industry saw him working on numerous projects, including the PBS TV movie Darrow (1991),starring Kevin Spacey. Initially hired as a prop fabrication assistant, he soon became Spacey's stand-in and also appeared as an extra in Bob Roberts (1992). His breakthrough role came with The Cemetery Club (1993) and Money for Nothing (1993),where he worked as a full-time Prop Assistant.
The opportunity to work alongside Prop Master Eugene McCarthy in Hollywood soon arose, and David packed his belongings, leaving with only $100 in his pocket. A near-fatal car accident in April 1993, which saw his car flip three times and collide with a semi-truck just outside Miami, Oklahoma, could have been disastrous. Miraculously, David escaped without injury, but lost virtually all his belongings in the wreck. He borrowed money from a friend and flew to Los Angeles, starting work on a Danielle Steel movie of the week just three days later.
David's career continued to flourish, as he expanded his skills to include writing, producing, and directing. As of 2017, his company Darkside Media self-publishes comic books and graphic novels, with recent titles including 'Lovecraft P.I. A Shot In The Dark' and 'Berserkers: Solo Island'.
