Duru Yücel is a Turkish actress who possesses a remarkable linguistic proficiency, being fluent in English and conversant in Spanish and Romanian to a level that enables her to convincingly portray non-native Spanish and Romanian-speaking characters.
From a tender age of 10, Duru had already discovered her passion for acting, which was further nurtured through a year of theatre studies. This early exposure led to her debut on stage, where she showcased her versatility by playing two contrasting characters in the same production.
Despite choosing to pursue a degree in English-Turkish Interpretation and Translation, Duru's passion for acting never wavered, and she went on to receive three years of acting and art training at The Studio Players in Istanbul. During this period, she had the opportunity to perform numerous times with the group and also acted in various TV series, commercials, and a short film.
Duru's professional endeavors have not been limited to acting alone. She has also worked with international film festivals, hosting esteemed guests such as the late Golden Globes President Lorenzo Soria. Moreover, from 2021 onwards, she has taken on additional roles as a judge and jury member for festivals like FilmQuest and the World Monologue Film Festival, and has started to explore voice-over acting.
In her most recent cinematic venture, Duru stars in and produces the independent feature film We Put the World to Sleep, a nine-year labor of love that marks the second installment in a spiritual trilogy directed by Adrian Tofei.
When not engaged in her acting pursuits, Duru can be found indulging in her love of jazz, having released a demo album featuring ten classical jazz songs that received encouraging feedback from the music industry. Her interests extend beyond the realm of entertainment, as she is an avid nature enthusiast, a learner of the world's ways, and a supporter of various causes. Additionally, she finds inspiration in topics such as literature, painting, architecture, health, psychology, spirituality, science, and history.
