Dupree Lewis Jr. was born to Dupree and Shirley Lewis Sr. as the eldest of three children in the small town of Livingston, Alabama, where he had big dreams of becoming a great actor in film and television. From a young age, Dupree demonstrated a natural aptitude for the arts, showcasing his talents as a performer, sketch artist, and musician. He also excelled in sports during his high school years, with aspirations to become a professional athlete. His parents, while encouraging his endeavors, emphasized the importance of academics.
Following his high school graduation, Dupree attended the University of Alabama, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering in 1997. After completing his education, he relocated to Baltimore, Maryland, and began working as an engineer. During this time, he rekindled his passion for the arts and resumed acting. After almost two years in Baltimore, Dupree moved to Atlanta, Georgia, where his acting career has flourished.
Throughout his career, Dupree has been credited with numerous lead and supporting roles in film and theater, garnering high praise for many of these performances. In addition to prominent roles in stage plays, Dupree has been busy in film, appearing in the independent feature film Somebodies (2006),an official selection of the 2006 Sundance Film Festival. He has also been seen in the feature film Complexion (2008),which was an official selection of the 2008 American Black Film Festival in Los Angeles, California, and the 2008 African Diaspora Film Festival in New York, New York.
Dupree is currently working on another independent film project, which is sure to showcase his true talent and versatility as an actor. With hard work and determination, there are even greater things to come for this talented individual.
