Drikus Volschenk is a renowned South African actor who has amassed an impressive portfolio of over 70 film, television, and theatre productions, both locally and internationally. Throughout his career, he has had the privilege of working alongside world-class talent, including Idris Elba and Naomi Harris in Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom, which was released by 20th Century Fox in 2013.
Drikus has also had the distinction of starring in multiple award-winning productions, including Beauty, which won the Queer Palm Award at the Cannes Film Festival and was also the South African entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 84th Academy Awards. Additionally, he has appeared in Durban Poison, which won the Best South African Feature Film at the Durban International Film Festival.
Furthermore, Drikus has starred in Dis ek, Anna, which won six South African Film & Television Awards, and was cast alongside Laurence Fishburne and Michael Nyqvist in the international series, Madiba, which was distributed by Black Entertainment Television (BET) in the USA. He has also featured in the American blockbuster, Batman vs Superman - Dawn of Justice, and in the biopic, Skin, which won 19 international awards and starred Sophie Okonedo and Sam Neil.
As a well-versed artist, Drikus is not only an accomplished actor but also a lecturer and screen acting coach. He has headed up the Screen Acting Department at AFDA in Johannesburg for several years, where he has had the opportunity to mentor and guide numerous students. Under his leadership, AFDA has won numerous local and international awards, including the student film Oscar and several Academy Award nominations.
In recent years, Drikus has continued to impress audiences with his versatility and range, starring in the critically acclaimed dystopian science fiction series, Maze Runner: Death Cure, alongside Dylan O'Brien and Rosa Salazar. The series has been nominated for several awards, including the BreakTudo Awards and Teen Choice Awards.
In his latest work, Drikus stars as one of the leading men in the remake of the iconic South African film, Fiela's Child, which won the SAFTA award for best feature film in 2019. Additionally, he is currently the Head of the prestigious EbonyLife Creative Academy in Lagos, Nigeria, where he also heads up the screen acting department.
