Andrew Kenneth Paslay, professionally known as Drew Paslay, was born in Gulfport, Mississippi, United States, to Jane Ann Maddox and Lea Clayton Paslay Jr., both retired school teachers from Stone High School in Wiggins, Mississippi.
As the second son of his parents, Paslay was raised with a strong educational foundation, which would later serve as the foundation for his successful career in the entertainment industry. He graduated in the top ten of his class at Stone High School in 2006, earning special honors with a 4.0 grade point average.
Paslay's academic achievements continued at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, where he graduated with honors in 2008. He then went on to earn his Bachelor's degree in Film Production from the University of Memphis in 2010, graduating in the top three of his class with Summa Cum Laude honors.
Paslay's passion for theatre and filmmaking began during his high school years, and he continued to hone his skills at MGCCC, where he earned an Associate's degree in Theatre. With his extensive education and training, Paslay decided to take the leap and pursue a career in acting and filmmaking professionally in 2012.
