Biography

Dougie Brimson's literary career commenced in 1996 with the publication of his debut book, Everywhere We Go, a memoir that delved into the world of football and football hooliganism, drawing from his own experiences as a soccer casual. The book's instant success marked the beginning of a prolific writing career, with 16 subsequent titles solidifying his position as a leading authority on lad culture and a prominent figure in the UK's literary scene.

Throughout his writing journey, Brimson has explored a wide range of subjects, from men and romance to males and their love affair with soccer. His novel, The Crew, continues to dominate the soccer download charts on both Amazon and iTunes, over 11 years since its initial release in 2000. Moreover, his comedy writing has garnered significant attention, tackling topics such as men and romance, and males and their passion for soccer.

In 2003, Brimson transitioned into screenwriting with the critically acclaimed short film, It's a Casual Life, followed by his first full-length feature, the Hollywood-funded Green Street, starring Elijah Wood. The film's release in September 2005 was met with widespread acclaim, winning numerous awards, including the Narrative Jury Prize and Narrative Feature Audience at the SXSW Film Festival, as well as the Best of Festival and Jury Award at the Malibu Film Festival. The film's success was further cemented by its official selection at the Tribeca Film Festival, and its worldwide cinema release, which sold over 80,000 DVD units in its first week on sale in the UK alone.

May 2014 saw the release of Brimson's second feature, an adaptation of his own novel, Top Dog. Directed by Martin Kemp, the film took home the Best Feature award at the British Independent Film Festival, as well as the Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor, and Best Supporting Actress awards. Top Dog was also nominated for Best Action Feature at the National Film Awards 2015.

Brimson's third feature, the urban revenge thriller We Still Kill The Old Way, starring Ian Ogilvy, James Cosmo, Steven Berkoff, and Danni Dyer, was released on December 16, 2014. The film has since been nominated for a host of awards, including Best Action Film at The Action Elite Awards 2015.

In 2021, Brimson founded his own production company, Red Bus Movies Ltd., with a slate of projects in development, including The Battle For Stathie Manor, The 45th, and In The Know.
