Biography

Douglas Osborne McClure, a renowned actor, was born on May 11, 1935, in the picturesque city of Glendale, California. He later pursued his academic endeavors at the prestigious University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA),where he honed his skills and laid the foundation for his future success.

Throughout his illustrious career, McClure effortlessly embodied the quintessential "blond leading man" persona, effortlessly transitioning from playing youthful sidekicks to taking on more mature roles, often appearing as a 20-something character well into his late 40s. His impressive resume boasts an astonishing 500-plus appearances, including numerous films and television series.

However, it is his iconic portrayal of Trampas in the classic television series "The Virginian" (1962) and "Backtrack!" (1969) that solidified his enduring legacy. Despite his valiant battle against cancer in the years leading up to his passing, McClure remained committed to his craft, appearing in notable productions such as "Maverick" (1994),"Riders in the Storm" (1995),and episodes of "Burke's Law" (1994) and "Kung Fu: The Legend Continues" (1993),although some of these projects did not see the light of day until after his untimely demise.

Tragically, Douglas McClure succumbed to lung cancer at the age of 59 on February 5, 1995, leaving behind a lasting impact on the entertainment industry and a legacy that continues to inspire generations of actors and fans alike.
