Dorothy Uhnak

Dorothy Uhnak's life began a mere stone's throw away from the 46th Precinct house in the Bronx, where her journey towards becoming a law enforcement officer was essentially predetermined from the moment she took her first breath. As fate would have it, she spent an impressive fourteen years of her career, with twelve of those years dedicated to the esteemed role of detective, serving the Metropolitan New York Transit Police. However, this esteemed officer eventually decided to resign from her position in order to pursue her educational aspirations at John Jay College of Criminal Justice in Manhattan. During her time at this esteemed institution, she would go on to publish her debut literary work, the semi-autobiographical novel "Policewoman", which would serve as a precursor to her future writings. Uhnak's literary endeavors did not stop there, as she continued to pen police procedurals and detective novels, both in book-length and short fiction formats. Interestingly, several of her writings would eventually be adapted into made-for-television movies, further solidifying her reputation as a talented and prolific author.
