Dorothy Malone was born Mary Maloney on January 29, 1924, in Chicago. She was a blonde, sultry, dreamy-eyed beauty who started her acting career in the 1940s. After studying at Southern Methodist University, she was offered a Hollywood contract by RKO, but was later dropped. She was then signed by Warner Bros., where she played small roles in several films, including "The Big Sleep" (1946) and "The Big Sleep" (1946).
