Doreen Spicer is a renowned American writer, producer, and director, hailing from her native New York, but relocating to Los Angeles to pursue her dreams of creating unique and captivating projects.
As a bright-eyed and ambitious individual, Spicer has made a name for herself in the entertainment industry, producing a tween show called The Wannabes, starring the talented Savvy. The series follows the journey of six teenagers who aspire to become pop stars and debuted in Australia in March 2010. The show has since been licensed internationally in over 100 countries, including HBO Latin America & Asia, Germany's Super RTL, ABC3 Australia, Austria, NOGA Israel, Turkey, The Netherlands, and many more. The show is set to begin airing in the U.S.A. on Starz Network in 2011.
In addition to her work on The Wannabes, Spicer is also developing a feature film titled Forever My Lady, based on the urban Latino novel by Jeff Rivera. This is just one of the many projects she has in the works under her company, Spicerack Productions.
Spicer's impressive resume also includes the development and writing of the musically driven film Jump In!, which broke a Disney Channel record with 8.2 million viewers in 2007. The film, which was nominated for a Humanitas Prize, stars Keke Palmer and Corbin Bleu and showcases the world-renowned sport of double-dutch.
Prior to her success in film and television, Spicer began her career as a writer's intern on the popular ABC sitcom Hangin' with Mr. Cooper, which led to a permanent position as a production assistant. She then went on to write for Fox's Martin and work as a writer's assistant on The Cosbys and The Jamie Foxx Show, as well as an executive assistant on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. Her talent and dedication eventually earned her a position as a staff writer on the NBC sitcom Built to Last.
