Dora Romano, a talented individual born near Naples, Italy, marked the beginning of her illustrious career by graduating in sociology in 1979. The following year, she received a degree from the prestigious Bottega Teatrale di Firenze, the renowned Vittorio Gassman' Acting School.
As a versatile performer, Dora has honed her craft in both English and Italian, training under the guidance of renowned theatre professionals such as Jerzy Grotowski, Elizabeth Kemp, Dominic De Fazio, Ivana Chubbuck, in Italy and the United States.
Her professional journey began under the direction of Otomar Kreijcha in Eschilo's "The Suppliants" at the Syracuse Greek Theatre, followed by a two-year stint with Eduardo de Filippo's company. Dora has since been directed by various Italian directors in classic comedies penned by Goldoni, Molière, Euripides, Plauto, G. D'Annunzio, and J. Anouilh.
In 1991, she caught the attention of Ermanno Olmi, who cast her as Mrs. Gibbs in T.Wilder's "Our Town". Throughout her career, Dora has also captivated audiences in numerous Shakespearean comedies, including "Macbeth", "King Lear", and "The Taming of the Shrew" (BBC Television).
Other notable credits include Martha in W. Goethe's "Doctor Faust", directed by Glauco Mauri, and the role of Mrs. Sarti in B.Brecht's "Galileo's Life". Additionally, Dora has showcased her vocal talents in various musicals, such as "Cuore Ingrato", a musical monologue, "She Loves Me" (2000),"Gianburrasca" (2004),"Sister Act" (2011, Mother Superior),"Titanic" (2012),"Il Marchese del Grillo" (The Marquess of Cricket),and "Mary Poppins".
