Gibb's athletic prowess earned him a basketball scholarship to the University of New Mexico, which he later transferred to the University of San Diego. At San Diego, he played football and was a key member of the varsity basketball team. His impressive skills on the field even caught the attention of the San Diego Chargers, who offered him a roster spot.
