Don Tjernagel, a Waterloo, Iowa native, embarked on a stand-up comedy career in 1997. Prior to this, he played football at the University of Northern Iowa, but a serious injury during spring practice in 1995 forced him to reassess his priorities. With a newfound sense of purpose, Don decided to give stand-up comedy a try, and his decision proved to be a stroke of genius.
As his popularity grew, Don found himself performing at various Las Vegas clubs, including the Casino Royale Volcano Lounge, Bourbon Street Hotel, The Monte Carlo, and the Las Vegas Hilton Hotel. This led to him becoming the youngest comic to star in his own show on the famous Vegas Strip, a feat he achieved with his first show at the Casino Royale.
In 2003, Don penned a book chronicling his travels across the country as a comedian, titled American Infidel. This book provided a unique glimpse into the life of a comedian, touching on his observations as an American citizen, his experiences with the opposite sex, and his thoughts on the First Amendment.
Don's stand-up comedy career continued to flourish, and he began recording his sets in 2008 with the release of his first DVD, Smut. Since then, he has released numerous DVDs and CDs, with his most recent release being the DVD Filthy, which debuted on July 12, 2011.
Throughout his career, Don has established himself as a talented and innovative comedian, always pushing the boundaries of what is considered acceptable in his stand-up routines. His dedication to his craft has earned him a loyal following, and he remains one of the most popular comedians in the industry today.
