Dominique DuVernay, a talented actress, was born on April 20th in the vibrant city of New Orleans, Louisiana. She is renowned for her captivating performance as Brittany in the Emmy-nominated ALLBLK series "A House Divided," earning her a HAPA award for Best Supporting Actress in a Digital Series in 2020.
Growing up in New Orleans, Dominique's ethnic background is a unique blend of Creole, with colonial Louisiana French and African descent, and a splash of Latina, specifically Nicaraguan. Raised by a single mother, she and her younger sister relocated frequently between New Orleans and the Bay Area, attending a total of 23 schools from kindergarten to 12th grade in both Louisiana and California.
Dominique's unconventional childhood, which included periods of living in battered women and homeless shelters, instilled in her a fascination with people, characters, accents, languages, and varying personalities. As a child, she would create different characters, teach herself Spanish, and develop a keen interest in communication and diverse personalities.
Despite being a shy child, Dominique's mother encouraged her to sign up for a role in the church play at the age of 14, which sparked her passion for acting. Upon graduating high school, she dedicated herself to pursuing her acting career, never looking back.
Dominique has appeared in various films, including "Cut Throat City" and "Freelancers," as well as TV shows like "The Game," "Claws," and many more. She is a devoted mother of two beautiful daughters and attributes her success to God, looking forward to her continued blessings and flourishing career.
