Biography

Koichi Takase, professionally known as DJ Koo, is a multifaceted Japanese artist who has made a significant impact in the music industry as a DJ, musician, sound creator, and variety talent.

Born with a passion for music, Takase's journey began at the tender age of 12, when he was introduced to British rock and was inspired to learn how to play the guitar. This early exposure to music laid the foundation for his future endeavors.

As he entered high school, Takase was introduced to dance music, which would later become a defining aspect of his career. His talents did not go unnoticed, and he was soon invited to work as a DJ at prominent clubs in Shinjuku, including Disco Canterbury House and B & B.

The late 1980s saw the emergence of computer-based music production, and Takase was at the forefront of this movement. Alongside DJ Honda, he formed the renowned remix team "THE JG's" and went on to produce numerous remixes that would cement their status as one of Japan's most influential remix groups.

Throughout his illustrious career, DJ Koo has been a driving force in the Japanese music scene, leaving an indelible mark on the industry as a member of the iconic band TRF.
