Upon completing his training, Landen was conscripted into National Service with the Royal Air Force (RAF),where he discovered a passion for the performing arts and joined a drama group. This experience not only fostered his creativity but also provided a sense of camaraderie and belonging.

Following his demobilization, Landen joined the prestigious Worthing repertory company, marking the beginning of a distinguished career in cinema, television, and theatre.
