Dimash Akhimov's illustrious acting career spanning nearly five decades has been marked by numerous accolades and a vast array of roles in films and television series across the globe.
After completing a two-year course at the prestigious Kazakhfilm studio, Dimash embarked on his acting journey in 1968. Four years later, he enrolled in the acting department at the All-Union State Institute of Cinematography in Moscow, where he was fortunate to be mentored by the renowned Boris Babochkin.
Dimash's diploma work showcased his impressive range as an actor, as he took on the lead role in William Shakespeare's timeless classic Othello, as well as the role of the mayor in Nikolai Gogol's The Government Inspector.
In 1987, Dimash expanded his creative horizons by enrolling in the directing faculty at the T. K. Zhurgenov Kazakh National Academy of Arts, where he honed his skills and graduated in 1990.
Throughout his illustrious 48-year career, Dimash has appeared in over 100 films and television series, working with 13 studios across the former USSR and abroad, including Czechoslovakia, Poland, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, France, Japan, India, Iran, and many others.
Dimash's contributions to the film industry were formally recognized with the prestigious title "Honored Artist of the Kazakh SSR" in 1990, and he was later awarded the "Order of Kurmet" in 2008.
In recent years, Dimash has continued to impress audiences with his versatility, taking on roles such as a guide in the TV series Marco Polo, produced by The Weinstein Company, and the criminal authority Buzaubas in Nurtas Adambayev's film Escape from the Village. Operation Mahabbat.
In 2016, Dimash played the role of the ruler of Moghulistan, Esen-Buga, in the film Kazakh Khanate, demonstrating his ability to overcome language barriers and take on complex, culturally rich characters.
