Biography

Diego Araujo, a renowned Ecuadorian filmmaker, hails from the picturesque city of Quito, Ecuador, where he first drew breath in 1975. This talented individual's academic journey began with a prestigious scholarship to pursue a Master's degree in screenwriting at the esteemed University of Bergen in Norway. Following his studies in the Scandinavian nation, Araujo further honed his skills by enrolling in a directing program at Florida State University in the United States of America.

After several years of honing his craft as an editor in the bustling metropolis of New York, Araujo returned to his native Ecuador in 2012, marking the beginning of a new chapter in his career. His first feature-length film, Feriado, premiered at the prestigious Generation 14 section of the Berlinale in 2014. The success of this film was followed by his sophomore effort, Agujero negro, which was showcased at BAFICI 2018.

Currently, Araujo is dedicating his time and expertise to his upcoming film project, Fango, which promises to be an exciting new chapter in his illustrious career as a filmmaker.
