Dexter Fletcher is a two-time BAFTA-nominated director, English actor-turned-filmmaker, and esteemed member of London's Royal Shakespeare Company. He began his career in front of the camera at six years old, playing "Baby Face" in Alan Parker's Bugsy Malone, and by 16, he became the youngest regular member of the Royal Shakespeare Company.
Fletcher's extensive acting career spanned four decades, working alongside notable co-stars such as Al Pacino, Anthony Hopkins, Robert De Niro, Helen Mirren, Alan Rickman, and Liam Neeson. He has worked with renowned directors including David Lynch, Mike Leigh, Michael Winterbottom, Ken Russell, Derek Jarman, and Guy Ritchie.
As a filmmaker, Fletcher made his debut with the critically acclaimed drama Wild Bill (2011),which earned him two Writers' Guild of Great Britain awards and a BAFTA nomination for Outstanding Debut. His follow-up, Sunshine on Leith (2013),was an adaptation of a stage work based on the music of the Scottish band the Proclaimers.
Fletcher's subsequent projects include directing Taron Egerton and Hugh Jackman in Eddie the Eagle (2016),about Olympic ski-jumper Michael "Eddie" Edwards, and helming the final weeks of shooting and overseeing post-production on Bohemian Rhapsody (2018),which won four Oscars.
In 2019, Fletcher directed the Academy Award-winning biopic Rocketman, starring Taron Egerton as rock legend Elton John, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival and earned four BAFTA nominations. He also executive produced the highly-anticipated Paramount+ miniseries The Offer, about The Godfather's journey to the screen, and directed the first two episodes.
Fletcher's latest project is the romantic adventure comedy Ghosted, starring Ana de Armas and Chris Evans, which premiered on Apple TV+ in April 2022. He will return to acting in director Vanessa Caswill's adaptation of the bestselling novel The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight, due in 2023.
