Biography

Désirée Nosbusch, a renowned actress and television host, has been a prominent figure in the entertainment industry for over three decades. Born in Luxembourg, she began her career at the tender age of 12 by hosting a radio show for Radio Luxembourg.

At 14, she made history by becoming the first youth television host in German television history for the network ZDF. This marked the beginning of her illustrious career, which would take her to the prestigious Academy of Performing Arts HB-Studios in New York, where she was accepted and trained under the guidance of Uta Hagen and Herbert Berghof.

In 1981, Nosbusch made her acting debut in the feature film "Nach Mitternacht," a film adaptation of the fiction novel by Irmgard Keun. This early success paved the way for her future endeavors, including her role as Mabel in the Taviani Brothers' feature film "Good morning Babylon," which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in 1987.

Since then, Nosbusch has appeared in over 60 movies internationally, solidifying her status as a talented and versatile actress. In recent years, she has taken on new challenges, including starring as Cathrin Blake in the ARD-Degeto series "The Irish Crime Story," set in Galway, Ireland, and winning the prestigious Grimme Award for "Best actress" for her portrayal of Christelle LeBlanc in the highly acclaimed international miniseries "Bad Banks."

In addition to her acting career, Nosbusch has also ventured into directing and film production. She successfully studied directing and film production at UCLA in Los Angeles and went on to write and direct the short film "Ice Cream Sunday," which received numerous awards and accolades.

In 2023, Nosbusch wrapped her directorial feature film debut, an adaptation of the play "Gift/Poison" by Lot Vekemans, starring Tim Roth and Trine Dyrholm. This milestone marks a significant achievement in her illustrious career, cementing her status as a talented and accomplished actress, director, and television host.
