As a journalism student at an Arkansas university, Sims embarked on a creative venture, crafting a short film about the Civil War that would eventually gain recognition and attract attention from industry professionals.
The success of this project led to a position on the set of War Eagle, Arkansas (2007),followed by a role as director of photography on The River Within (2009),marking Sims' first feature as a cinematographer.
In 2011, Sims returned to his home state of Arkansas to direct his first feature film, Come Morning (2012),which he also wrote, photographed, and edited. This ambitious project premiered at the 2012 Austin Film Festival, and Sims and his crew received a special jury prize for cinematography at the Oxford Film Festival in 2013.
Come Morning (2012) also received the prestigious Charles B. Pierce Best of Fest award in 2014, cementing Sims' reputation as a talented filmmaker.
In 2016, Sims returned to the writer/director chair for The Perfect Host: A Southern Gothic Tale (2018),showcasing his versatility and range as a filmmaker.
Today, Sims is the founder of Fabled Motion Pictures and Fabled Effects House, and he resides and works in New Zealand, bringing his unique perspective and creative vision to the global film community.
