Derek Magyar, a talented individual, graduated from the esteemed California Institute of the Arts (CalArts) in Valencia, California, in 2003. His early career saw him take on a role in the film short, Last Stop, in the same year.
Magyar has since made appearances in numerous television series, including JAG, Boston Legal, Star Trek: Enterprise, Criminal Minds, Medium, Dirt, and The Cape, to name a few. His impressive resume also includes a role in the pilot spinoff of The Closer, Major Crimes, on TNT, scheduled to air in August 2012, as well as a role in CSI, set to air at the end of September.
Magyar's breakthrough role came in the award-winning film Boy Culture (2006),where he played the character X. His performance earned him several awards for best lead actor at film festivals worldwide. Following this success, he starred in Lionsgate's "Train" alongside Thora Birch. He also had a starring role in Chris Carter's upcoming film "Fencewalkers" with Mehcad Brooks, Katie Cassidy, and Natalie Dormer.
In 2012, Magyar's film "No One Lives" is set to premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, with a theatrical release expected in December. The film stars Luke Evans in one of Magyar's most challenging roles to date. Additionally, Magyar is a supporting lead in the submarine thriller "Phantom," featuring an impressive cast, including Ed Harris, David Duchovny, and William Fichtner.
Looking ahead, Magyar will star in the upcoming film "Crazed," which will be directed by Ryuhei Kitamura. He will also produce the film alongside Harry Knapp. Furthermore, Magyar produced and directed his first major feature film, Flying Lessons (2010),which boasts an impressive cast, including Maggie Grace, Cary Elwes, Hal Holbrook, Joanna Cassidy, and Christine Lahti.
