Denise Milfort's life took a dramatic turn at a young age, as she and her family fled their native Port-au-Prince, Haiti, to escape the tumultuous political climate. Her father, a supervising engineer at a German-owned electronic company, and her mother, a former entrepreneur with a string of car dealerships, were forced to abandon their assets and start anew in the United States.
Despite the challenges they faced, Denise's passion for acting was evident from an early age, as she landed leading roles in school productions. Her notable collaboration with the renowned musician Trent Reznor, with whom she had a six-year romantic relationship, resulted in her being credited on the highly acclaimed Nine Inch Nails album, The Fragile, for the song "La Mer". Denise's decision to sing the song in Haitian Creole, rather than French, was a deliberate choice to distance herself from the elitist politics of her family's past and to support the movement to make Haitian Creole an official language in Haiti.
During her time in New Orleans, Denise appeared on the cover of Gambit Weekly and supported herself as a model. After completing her high school education in Stamford, Connecticut, she attended Eastern Connecticut State University, where she majored in biology. However, her true calling remained in the world of acting, and she eventually moved to Los Angeles to pursue her dreams.
Denise has four siblings, including three sisters and one brother. Her impressive acting credits include the film Repentance, in which she co-starred alongside Academy Award-winning actor Forest Whitaker. Her latest projects include Lalo's House, a film set in Haiti, which is set to be released in early 2018. In addition to her acting career, Denise is dedicated to supporting Dental Care for Children, a nonprofit organization that provides free dental care to children in Haiti and Mexico. As the organization's international coordinator, Denise has been instrumental in helping to bring vital dental care services to those in need.
