Del Shores is a renowned American writer, director, producer, actor, and stand-up comedian. He is often referred to as the "master of the Texas comedy" by the Los Angeles Times.
Throughout his illustrious career, Shores has successfully written, directed, and produced numerous projects across various mediums, including studio and independent film, network and cable television, and regional and national touring theatre.
Shores' career took off with the play "Daddy's Dyin' (Who's Got The Will?)", which ran for two years and won numerous Los Angeles theatre awards, including LA Weekly's Best Production and Best Writing. The play has since been produced in over 2,500 theatres worldwide.
His play "Sordid Lives" opened in Los Angeles in 1996 and ran for 13 sold-out months, winning 14 Drama-Logue Theatre Awards, including three for Shores for writing, directing, and producing. The play has since been produced over 300 times.
In 1999, Shores wrote and directed the film version of "Sordid Lives", starring Beau Bridges, Delta Burke, Olivia Newton-John, and Leslie Jordan. The film became a cult phenomenon and holds the record for the longest-running film in Palm Springs, running for 96 weeks.
Shores has also written and produced several other successful plays, including "Southern Baptist Sissies", "The Trials and Tribulations of a Trailer Trash Housewife", and "Yellow". His plays have collectively won over 100 Los Angeles theatre awards.
In addition to his work in theatre, Shores has also had success in television, writing and producing for shows such as "Dharma and Greg" and "Queer as Folk". He has also written and directed several films, including "Blues for Willadean" and "Sordid Lives: The Series", which premiered on Viacom's LOGO network in 2008.
Shores has also had a successful stand-up comedy career, performing in over 40 cities and releasing several DVDs. He has also acted in several films and television shows, including "Cry" and "A Very Sordid Wedding".
