Dee Booher, affectionately known as "Queenie," initially adopted the stage name "Queen Kong" during her five-year tenure as a roller derby skater for the Chicago Hawks, New York Bombers, Detroit Devils, and Texas Outlaws. Simultaneously, she embarked on an acting career, which was briefly augmented by a stint as a rock star. Her hit single, "(I Eat) Raw Meat," gained significant exposure through frequent airplay on Los Angeles sportscaster Fred Rogin's KNBC-TV4 show.
Booher's television appearances extended beyond her music career, as she became a regular on various game shows, including "Win, Lose or Draw" and "The Gong Show," where she served as a co-host for 14 episodes. Additionally, she made a living by delivering unique singing telegrams, known as "Slam-A-Grams," which involved performing professional wrestling moves on unsuspecting party guests, designed to appear brutal and painful but ultimately harmless. However, due to injuries sustained from wrestling and roller derby, she was forced to discontinue this aspect of her career.
Booher's fan base was particularly enthusiastic, with children often mobbing her during personal appearances during her time with "Gorgeous Ladies Of Wrestling" (G.L.O.W.). Despite her tough exterior, she was a kind and gregarious person in real life, treating her friends and fans with immense warmth and affection. The moniker "Matilda The Hun" was bestowed upon her by G.L.O.W. producers, although it wasn't until the show had been off the air for several years that she discovered the name was borrowed from a character played by Roberta Collins in the 1975 film Death Race 2000.
Booher resides in the Los Angeles area with her husband, Ken, and maintains a website featuring a comprehensive collection of photographs documenting her career.
