Biography

Deanna Dunagan is a renowned Tony Award-winning actress whose illustrious career has been deeply rooted in the vibrant Chicago theatre scene. Hailing from Monahans, Texas, Dunagan made her Broadway debut in 1979, starring in the esteemed production of George Bernard Shaw's "Man and Superman" at the iconic Circle in the Square.

In 1981, she embarked on the first national tour of "Children of a Lesser God", during which she had her first encounter with the captivating city of Chicago. It was during this tour that Dunagan developed a profound affection for the city, which ultimately led her to relocate to Chicago after the tour concluded. Over the past three decades, she has had the privilege of performing in more than 30 theatres across the Chicago area, earning herself an impressive three Joseph Jefferson Awards and three "After Dark" Awards.

In 2007, Dunagan returned to the bright lights of Broadway, starring in the Steppenwolf Theatre's transplant production of Tracy Letts' critically acclaimed play "August: Osage County". Her outstanding performance garnered her a Tony Award, a Theatre World Award, and a Drama Desk Award, cementing her status as a celebrated thespian.
