DL relocated to Los Angeles following his stint on the film "Boxing Helena", where he collaborated with the producer until deciding to shift his focus to production, working on several feature films. However, he eventually left production to pursue acting once more, taking on various small theater roles in Los Angeles before landing his breakthrough part in "Leaving Las Vegas".
After this significant milestone, DL appeared in numerous prominent films in minor and walk-on capacities, as well as taking on more substantial roles in smaller productions, such as the short film "Memory Denied It" and the feature "Pariah". Following the completion of the latter, DL made the decision to leave Los Angeles behind and return to his hometown of Boston, where he was recognized with an Elliot Norton Award alongside his castmates for their performance in the Boston premiere of Eric Bogosian's "Suburbia".
DL subsequently returned to the world of film, assuming both directorial and acting roles in "The Autumn Heart", his inaugural screenplay which was officially selected for competition at the Sundance Film Festival. The film went on to claim the top prize at the Nantucket Film Festival, solidifying DL's reputation as a talented filmmaker and actor.
