Biography

David Shaber, a renowned screenwriting expert, spent the 1990s teaching advanced screenwriting at Columbia University's School of the Arts, utilizing his unique ability to distill his professional experience into a coherent and engaging university course. This rare gift set him apart from his colleagues at Columbia, who often struggled to connect their academic backgrounds with practical field experience.

Born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio, Shaber initially pursued a pre-med education, but his true passion lay in the world of theater. He abandoned his medical studies to attend the prestigious Yale Drama School, where he discovered his true calling. Shaber's impressive range of skills and talents enabled him to write and produce plays for the stage, as well as screenplays, with notable success in both mediums.

Throughout his career, Shaber penned an astonishing 40 commissioned screenplays, with eight of these projects ultimately being transformed into feature films. His impressive body of work also includes the final draft for the critically acclaimed film "The Hunt for Red October," directed by John McTiernan and starring the legendary Sean Connery. Despite his significant contributions to the film, Shaber was not credited as a writer.
