Dave's illustrious career in the world of animation and television began in 1993 when he joined the team of NBC's Late Night With Conan O'Brien as one of the original writers. Two years later, in 1995, he made the transition to Walt Disney Feature Animation, where he worked on the movie Tarzan. During his time at Disney, Dave had the opportunity to collaborate with a then-little-known animation studio called Pixar, who hired him to contribute to the development of their second feature film, A Bug's Life.
For the next six years, Dave was a vital part of the Disney/Pixar animation team, lending his expertise to nearly every animated movie in production. His impressive resume includes writing the screenplay for The Emperor's New Groove and co-writing the beloved film Finding Nemo. As a testament to his exceptional skill, Dave received Academy Award and BAFTA nominations for Best Original Screenplay for Nemo, as well as a BAFTA nomination for The Emperor's New Groove.
Dave's latest endeavor is a collaboration with director Mark Dindal on The Garfield Movie, which is set to hit theaters on May 24, 2024.
