David Palffy, a talented film and television actor of Welsh-Hungarian heritage, embarked on a journey that would take him from the esteemed Harvard University to the University of Calgary, where he pursued a law (LLB) degree. However, his passion for the performing arts soon led him to abandon law in favor of the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London, England. This pivotal decision marked the beginning of his illustrious career in the world of theatre.
Palffy's impressive theatrical credits include notable productions such as A Midsummer Night's Dream, in which he played the enchanting Oberon, as well as Richard III, Strindberg's Miss Julie, and David Mamet's Speed The Plow.
As he navigated the London theatre scene, Palffy resided on a Dutch barge, a unique and unconventional living arrangement that added to his artistic persona. His breakout role in Stanley Kubrick's Full Metal Jacket (1987) catapulted him to international recognition, followed by a lead role in the acclaimed Dutch War series De zomer van '45 (1991).
Upon his return to Canada and the United States, Palffy continued to hone his craft, taking on numerous film and television projects while also working as a writer and director. His creative endeavors culminated in the founding of The Yaletown Actors Lab.
Throughout his illustrious career, Palffy has made a lasting impact, leaving an indelible mark on the world of entertainment. One of his most iconic roles was that of the formidable Goa'uld villains Sokar and Anubis in the popular series Stargate SG-1 (1997).
In his personal life, Palffy has been married to the talented actress Erica Durance, star of the hit series Saving Hope (2012),for 15 years. The couple has shared a loving home in Vancouver, where they have built a life filled with love, creativity, and a deep appreciation for the arts.
