In the year 2010, Karlak's creative journey took a significant turn when he directed the short film "The Candidate", which went on to make a name for itself by being featured on the prestigious Viewfinder List in 2011 and receiving widespread recognition at film festivals globally.
Following the immense success of "The Candidate", Karlak's talent and innovative storytelling skills caught the attention of major studios, and he sold an original sci-fi pitch to Warner Brothers titled "RISE", with renowned producer Roy Lee on board. Additionally, he sold a second original pitch titled "Outliers" to 20th Century Fox, with Peter Chernin producing, and is attached to direct both films.
In recent years, Karlak has been at the forefront of exploring the vast potential of virtual reality in storytelling. He has directed a virtual reality experience set in the world of "Rise", which premiered at the Storyscapes series at the prestigious Tribeca Film Festival in 2014. Moreover, he has created a custom VR experience for BMW's design team in Munich, showcasing his versatility and expertise in this cutting-edge medium.
Karlak's most recent projects include directing two virtual reality experiences for Ridley Scott's film "Alien: Covenant" in collaboration with Fox Creative Lab and 20th Century Fox.
