David Joseph Martinez is a Hispanic-American Actor, born in Miami, Florida, and raised in the nearby city of Hialeah. His parents, Louis and Florinda Martinez, have played a significant role in shaping his early life and interests. David began his journey in the performing arts at the tender age of 7, when he started studying music. He continued to nurture his passion for music and acting, taking classes at Hialeah-Miami Lakes Senior High School, where he honed his skills in voice and dance.
As he grew older, David's interest in acting only intensified, and he began taking classes at Florida State University, where he earned a degree in psychology with a minor in social work. He later went on to pursue a PhD in developmental and school psychology at Florida State's graduate program. This rigorous academic background has undoubtedly contributed to his well-rounded approach to acting.
David's professional career in acting began in 1985, when he received his S.A.G. card for his role as the Cool Drug Dealer in the hit series "Miami Vice." He then moved to New York, where he worked as a singer in the national and regional tour of the musical "Evita," earning his Equity card in the process. However, David's passion for acting was temporarily put on hold as he took an 18-year hiatus to pursue missionary work and make a positive impact in Latin America.
Upon his return, David worked alongside Eva Longoria in the movie "Carlita's Secret" and began to rebuild his acting career. In 2007, he made the move to New Orleans, Louisiana, where he had the opportunity to work with some of the most renowned directors and actors in the industry. His extensive list of collaborators includes Werner Herzog, Matthew Vaughn, Louis Leterrier, Sylvester Stallone, Rian Johnson, Nicolas Cage, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Morgan Freeman, Bruce Willis, Sylvester Stallone, and Kevin Bacon.
