David Dominic Harris, a native of New York, pursued his passion for acting after being encouraged by an English teacher to join the drama department at Manhattan High School of Performing Arts.
He made his acting debut in the television drama "Judge Horton and the Scottsboro Boys" in 1976.
Three years later, Harris landed a leading role in the cult classic "The Warriors" in 1979, playing the iconic character Cochise, a flamboyantly attired member of a New York street gang.
His subsequent film appearances include the Robert Redford-starring prison drama "Brubaker" in 1980, the murder mystery "A Soldier's Story" in 1984, and the action film "Quicksilver" in 1986, in which he played the character Apache.
Harris also made a significant impact on television, appearing in numerous episodes of popular shows such as "Kojak", "MacGyver", "Hill Street Blues", "Simon & Simon", "The Equalizer", and "Profiler".
He is also well-remembered for his roles in the epic miniseries "North & South: Book 1, North & South" in 1985, where he played the character Priam, a slave in the Mont Royal household, and in the television series "NYPD Blue" in 1993, where he played the uniformed Officer Donny Simmons.
Sadly, David Dominic Harris passed away on October 25, 2024, in New York, after a battle with cancer.
