David Duncan's professional writing career did not commence until he reached the milestone age of thirty-three, which occurred in the year 1946. Prior to this, he had spent a decade serving in various roles within government administration and public services. It wasn't until 1953 that he transitioned into the world of screenwriting, and subsequently, he began penning science-fiction movie scripts after one of his science fiction novels, "Dark Dominion", was adapted for serialization in "Collier's" magazine. Notably, among the numerous science-fiction films he wrote, he holds a special fondness for "The Time Machine" (1960),which he has described as his favorite, with a significant margin separating it from his other works.
