David Denowitz was born and raised in Cambridge, Maryland, a quiet farming town on the picturesque Eastern Shore of Maryland, where he spent his formative years surrounded by the rustic charm of the bucolic landscape.
His father, Irving Denowitz, was a podiatrist who had a fascinating backstory, having been born in Poland and relocating to New York City as a young child, just before the devastating events of the Holocaust unfolded.
David's mother, Ruthann Denowitz, was a high school English teacher and the owner of a dress boutique in Cambridge, with roots in the picturesque Catskill Mountains.
Growing up, David attended two different Catholic high schools, including Saints Peter and Paul in Easton, Maryland, and Saint Mary's in Annapolis, Maryland, where he ultimately graduated.
David's academic achievements were impressive, as he went on to earn both Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Economics from the University of Maryland at College Park, graduating Summa Cum Laude and earning membership in prestigious academic honor societies such as Phi Beta Kappa, Phi Kappa Phi, and Omicron Delta Epsilon (Economics Honor Society).
David's legal career was equally impressive, as he earned a J.D. from NYU Law School and practiced corporate law for over 20 years, serving as a Partner at the New York office of Epstein Becker & Green, a national law firm renowned for its expertise in health law and labor law.
However, David's passion for acting never truly dissipated, and he began to rekindle his interest in the craft at the age of 14, when he took on the role of Oliver Twist in the musical "Oliver".
He went on to appear in numerous plays and musicals throughout his academic career, only to set aside his acting ambitions to pursue a career in law.
That was until 2011, when the acting bug bit him once again, prompting him to re-examine his priorities and pursue his long-dormant passion for the stage.
David currently resides in Westport, Connecticut, where he is married to Jill Denowitz, M.D., a dedicated internist in private practice.
Together, they have three children, Lauren, Steven, and Jonathan, all of whom attended the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor, and none of whom have shown any inclination to follow in their father's footsteps into the world of acting.
In his free time, David enjoys playing chess, reading non-fiction, collecting rare coins, and engaging in various non-nerdy pursuits.
As a gym enthusiast, he starts each day with a rigorous routine that includes treadmill, elliptical, and weightlifting exercises.
