Biography

David Calder, a classically-trained veteran actor, was born on August 1, 1946, in Portsmouth, England. His impressive acting career commenced at the tender age of 22, around 1968. He is easily recognizable to British audiences for his extensive work in film and television, whereas American audiences may be more familiar with his appearances in prominent movies.

One of his most notable roles is perhaps his portrayal of Sir Robert King, the on-screen father of French actress Sophie Marceau, in the James Bond spy-action film, The World Is Not Enough (1999). Calder's talent also shone through in Rob Cohen's The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor (2008),the third installment of the Stephen Sommers-directed Mummy films, starring Brendan Fraser.

During the 2010s, Calder continued to make a name for himself in the industry, appearing in several A-list films and television series. One such notable role was in the Ron Howard-directed car-racing film drama, Rush (2013),starring Chris Hemsworth. His extensive work in British television also includes appearances on The Wrong Mans (2013) and Casualty (1986),a long-running medical drama.

In addition to his film work, Calder has also made notable appearances in television miniseries, such as The Moonstone (2016),and guest-starred in the fantasy drama, Emerald City (2016).
