David Burton Morris, a talented filmmaker, was born and raised in St. Paul, Minnesota, where his journey in the film industry began. During his time at UCLA film school, he created his debut feature film, Loose Ends, showcasing his early passion for storytelling. Following his success, Morris returned to his hometown of Minnesota to work on his next project, Purple Haze, a feature film that would go on to garner widespread recognition.
Morris's subsequent film, Patti Rocks, won the prestigious Coup de Coeur for Best Feature Film at the Deauville International Film Festival, and was also nominated for five Independent Spirit Awards. Additionally, the film received accolades at Critics Week at the Venice International Film Festival. Both Purple Haze and Patti Rocks were showcased in competition at the esteemed Sundance Film Festival, with Purple Haze taking home the Grand Jury Prize.
Morris's extensive filmography has received an impressive twenty-five nominations, including seven Emmy nominations. His directing work has earned Cable ACE awards, and he has been nominated for a DGA award and a Directing Emmy nomination.
Since 2016, Morris has resided in Minnesota full-time, living with his screenwriter wife, Victoria Wozniak, and their menagerie of animals.
