David Bickerstaff's artistic journey began after leaving Art College in 1979, as he continued to hone his craft while working as a professional actor in various Theatre, film, and TV programs. This multifaceted experience laid the foundation for his future endeavors.
In 1988, David made the bold decision to relocate to the United Kingdom, where he further solidified his career. The following year, he founded Atomictv, an umbrella organization dedicated to developing innovative time-based media projects.
As Atomictv's creative force, David experimented with interactive and electronic media, pushing the boundaries of storytelling and artistic expression. His documentary work and video installations, such as Narrenturm (2010),Hygieia (2011),Heavy Water: a film for Chernobyl (2007),and Making War Horse (2009),have garnered widespread acclaim, premiering in Britain and international festivals alike.
Recent screenings have taken place at esteemed institutions like the Wellcome Collection, Onedotzero, Tate Modern, and the documentary fortnight at the Museum of Modern Art (New York). David's impressive credentials also include serving as a member of the BAFTA judging panel for Interactive Art in 2004.
Since 1997, David has held the role of Creative Director at Newangle Productions, a commercial partnership that produces captivating video installations and interactives for visitor attractions. His impressive client roster includes the British Museum, Victoria and Albert Museum, Historic Royal Palaces, Museum of London, the Royal Observatory, and Cadbury World.
Throughout his career, David has received numerous awards for his groundbreaking projects, including an Insight Award for Excellence from the National Association of Film and Digital Media Artists in the US (2007).
