David Baerwald, a talented musician, music producer, and singer/songwriter, was born on July 11, 1960, in Oxford, Ohio.
He relocated to Los Angeles in the late 1970s and became the lead vocalist for a local club band called Shoes Sensible.
During this time, he met fellow struggling musician David Ricketts, and they began working together in June 1984, eventually forming the rock duo David & David.
Their only album, "Boomtown," was released in 1986 and received overwhelmingly positive reviews from music critics, earning a cult following among 80's music enthusiasts.
The album's hit single, "Welcome to the Boomtown," peaked at #37 on the Billboard charts.
After disbanding in 1987, Ricketts and Baerwald pursued solo careers.
Baerwald released two solo albums: "Bedtime Stories" in 1990 and "Triage" in 1993, both of which received critical acclaim but failed to achieve commercial success.
In 1993, he collaborated with Sheryl Crow on her debut album "Tuesday Night Music Club," co-writing the hit singles "All I Wanna Do," "Leaving Las Vegas," "Strong Enough," and "Run, Baby, Run."
Baerwald opened for Jewel during her 1997 summer concert tour and co-wrote the song "Supermodel" with Jill Sobule.
He has also composed scores for several films, including "Cold Ones," "Undiscovered," and "Hurlyburly."
Some of the movies featuring his songs on their soundtracks are "Reality Bites," "Clueless," "The Crossing Guard," "Grace of My Heart," "The Pledge," "Moulin Rouge!," "Runaway Jury," "Around the Bend," "The King," "Shanghai Kiss," and "Into the Wild."
In 2002, he released the highly acclaimed album "Here Comes the New Folk Underground."
