Biography

David A. Hoffman, a native of Chicago, made the bold decision to relocate to Los Angeles in 1999 after graduating from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Film Studies. This pivotal moment marked the beginning of his journey in the film industry, where he would soon discover his passion for low-budget filmmaking.

Hoffman's early experiences in the industry were shaped by his involvement in low-budget filmmaking, a realm that demanded efficiency on set and the ability to find creative solutions for big-budget effects and locations. Over the course of two years, he worked tirelessly, jumping from company to company, honing his skills in both on-set and production office environments.

In a bold career move, Hoffman transitioned to post-production, where he began editing features for Rojak Films. During his tenure at Rojak Films, he edited an impressive half-dozen feature films, showcasing his versatility in working with various genres. This experience ultimately led to his shift from editing to producing.

In the fall of 2003, Hoffman joined forces with producing partner and director Matthew Peek under the production shingle Four Rent Films, where he served as Vice President of Production. In this capacity, he produced and edited the short film "Leçon de la Langue" and the experimental feature film "Late Night," both of which were co-produced and directed by Peek.

Upon completing these two films, Hoffman took the initiative to create Wonderkid Entertainment, marking a new chapter in his illustrious career.
