Biography

Daveigh Chase was born on July 24, 1990, in Las Vegas, Nevada, and later raised in the small town of Albany, Oregon, where she still spends a significant amount of her time. She began her early career in the entertainment industry at the tender age of three, singing and dancing in her hometown and local areas at community events and shows. Her first commercial appearance was for Campbell's Soup at age seven, and shortly after, she was offered a starring role in the Musical Theatre production "Utah!".

As she continued to grow and develop her skills, Daveigh auditioned for various roles, including the voice of "Lilo" at age eight, which led to her testing at CBS network for her first television series. She went on to work on numerous television pilots before landing a starring role in the FOX series "Oliver Beene" (2003),where she played the quirky best friend "Joyce". Throughout her early career, she appeared in several films, including "Donnie Darko" (2001),where she played Donnie's youngest sister, and "R.L. Stine's The Haunted Lighthouse", which continues to be showcased at various Busch Garden Theme Parks.

In 2002, Daveigh won the "Best Villain" award at the MTV Movie Awards for her chilling performance as "Samara" in DreamWorks' hit film "The Ring". She also lent her voice to the hit animated and Oscar-nominated Disney feature film "Lilo & Stitch" (2002),and continues to voice "Lilo" for the Disney Channel series, as well as various DVD's and video games. Additionally, she was cast as the English voice of the lead heroine "Chihiro" in Hayao Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli's critically acclaimed film "Spirited Away" (2001),which won the 2002 Oscar for Best Animated Film.

Beyond her acting career, Daveigh is also a talented singer. In 1999, she had the opportunity to join a small band as lead singer and perform as an opening act for Reba McEntire. She later sang "Holly Jolly Christmas" for the "School's Out! Christmas" album released by Universal Records Hip-O Records, which features the voices of other child stars. Daveigh was handpicked by director Steven Spielberg to sing "God Bless America" in his film "A.I. Artificial Intelligence" (2001),and in the "Oliver Beene" episode "Oliver & the Otters" (2004),she was given the chance to showcase her talent by singing the hit 1960s song "Tossin' and Turnin'". She has since recorded four original songs.

Outside of the entertainment industry, some of Daveigh's favorite activities include surfing, horseback riding, dancing, reading, and spending time with family and friends.
