Daniel Vega Vidal is a multifaceted creative professional, born in Lima in 1973, who has made a significant impact in the film and television industry as a director, producer, and screenwriter.
With his brother Diego, he has co-created a range of feature films, including "Octubre" (2010),"El Mudo" (2013),and "La Bronca" (2019),which have garnered numerous accolades and been released in various countries worldwide, such as Germany, Brazil, France, the USA, and Colombia.
His filmography also comprises three short films, namely "Interior Bajo Izquierda" (2008),"Alondra" (2015),and "Dona y César" (2022),with the latter being commissioned by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) as part of the Graduate XXI project, tackling the issue of high school dropout rates in public schools in Latin America.
Through his production company, Maretazo Cine, Daniel has co-produced two feature films, "Todas las fuerzas" and "Reinas," the latter of which premiered at Sundance in January 2024 and won the Grand Prix of the Generation International Jury for the Best Kplus Feature Film at the Berlinale 2024.
In addition to his work in feature films, Daniel has also ventured into television, directing four episodes of the second season of the Netflix series "El Chapo" in 2017, as well as co-directing the series "El día de mi suerte" for Movistar Latam. The latter series was selected at the Seriemania festival in France, acquired by Amazon Prime, and sold to Canal Arte France.
In 2021, Daniel co-directed the fictional series "Contigo Capitán," which premiered on Netflix, and has also directed two commissioned comedies for Tondero, Peru's largest film production company, titled "Intercambiadas" and "Busco Novia."
Furthermore, Daniel has written, produced, and directed three documentary short films for the World Bank, featuring inspiring testimonies from three women beneficiaries of social programs, narrating their stories of empowerment.
Daniel holds a degree in Image and Sound from the Complutense University of Madrid and completed a Master's in Audiovisual Business Management at Carlos III University of Madrid.
