Biography

Damian Slattery's directorial debut, A Day In October, brings to life the extraordinary tale of a Jewish family and a Danish resistance fighter joining forces to rescue Danish Jews in WWII Copenhagen, a story that has been recognized with an Angel Award for its powerful humanitarian storytelling.

In addition to his work on A Day In October, Slattery has adapted two highly acclaimed foreign films into English-language screenplays, including Harry and The Butler, based on the Academy Award-nominated Danish film of the same name, and Departures, which was inspired by the Academy Award-winning Japanese film.

Slattery is also working on Hans Christian Andersen, a dramatic retelling of the life story of Denmark's beloved fairy tale author, which intertwines the significant events of Andersen's life with the poignant and profound tales that those events inspired.

Throughout his career, Slattery has demonstrated a passion for storytelling and a commitment to bringing compelling narratives to the screen.
