Cristiane Justino Venancio, known professionally as Cristiane "Cyborg" Santos, was born in July 1985 in Curitiba, Brazil. She is a mixed martial artist and former Strikeforce Women's Featherweight World Champion.
Cyborg's early life was marked by a strong athletic background, competing in high school handball championships. After being approached by Rudimar Fedrigo, the founder and head coach of Chute Boxe Academy, she began training in combat sports, eventually adopting the nickname "Cyborg" in 2005.
Cyborg's professional MMA career began in 2005, and she quickly gained recognition for her aggressive fighting style and size. She won her first fight against Eric Paes, but suffered a loss to Vanessa Porto in her second bout. However, she rebounded with three consecutive first-round victories over Chris Schroeder, Elaine Santiago, and Marise Vitoria.
In 2008, Cyborg returned to action in the United States, defeating Shayna Andrea Baszler via TKO in the second round.
